Dr. Mojtaba Soltanalian has recently received the 2018 EURASIP best PhD Award for his thesis titled, “Signal Design for Active Sensing and Communications” written in 2014 as a part of his doctoral dissertation at Uppsala University, Sweden.
The European Signal Processing Association (EURASIP) has created and is maintaining a database of PhD manuscripts, which is presently World’s largest one in the area of signal processing. The database also keeps tracks of monthly downloads and publishes regularly in its page the 10 top downloaded theses.
Every year a committee of experts nominated by the EURASIP BoD selects up to three theses related to different areas of signal processing to be awarded. The selection process is based on the evaluation of the impact of the theses, their subsequent journal and conference publications and related citations received, and on the review reports of three independent reviewers as well as on the download statistics. The download statistics are instrumental only in forming a short-list of the top 30 theses.
In order to select the 2018 best PhD theses, the temporal window of the years 2013 through 2015 was considered. The awards will be presented during the Awards Ceremony at EUSIPCO 2018. Each award consists of a certificate and of a cash amount of 1K Euros.
Kudos to Prof. Soltanalian for this outstanding success.
